Residencies and Workshops in Venice

February 14, 2013

Venice is calling… will you answer???

The Venice Printmaking Studio is currently accepting applications for 2013 residencies and workshops. We specialize in large-format printmaking in relief/woodcut, monotype/print, silk screen, intaglio/etching and artist’s books. The VPS encourages the exploration of traditional as well as experimental printmaking processes and ideas.  Modest scholarships are now available, a letter of financial need must accompany application materials.

Located on the glass-blowing island of Murano, the Venice Printmaking Studio is tucked away from the more trafficked areas of the city and offers a 2000 sq. ft. workspace overlooking the lagoon. Venice, Italy is rich in artistic heritage and world-renowned landmarks – San Marco square, Doge’s Palace, Correr Museum, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and the notorious Venice Biennale.

New workshops for summer 2013! Rachel Singel, MFA candidate from the University of Iowa, will be conducting workshops in traditional and new media printmaking. Check out OUR NEW BLOG for further details.

Emerging artists are encouraged to apply for our Art Editions program – a 3 year collaboration with the Venice Printmaking Studio, which includes participation into the Large Format Contemporary Printmaking international exhibition. MORE INFO

Summer 2013 is an ideal time to visit the Venice as it coincides with the 55th Biennale di Venezia, an international exhibition of contemporary art. We encourage you to apply for our programs as soon as possible in order to ensure a spot in the schedule. Housing is provided for all residents and workshop participants.

We are also seeking qualified interns for our 2013 summer workshop and residency season – housing is provided! This is a unique opportunity to meet and work with an international base of artists and printmakers.  HOW TO APPLY

Finally, I am organizing a Fall Retreat for those who are interested in working on an independent project within a small community environment – includes technical assistance, group discussions and critiques, field trips to the Venice Biennale, historical museums, and famous Venetian landmarks.
