Journal Call for Submissions, Deadline July 31st, 2015

The MAPC Journal is now taking submissions for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2015 issue, vol.23, no. 3 + 4.
The deadline for submitting articles and images is July 31, 2015.

Theme:   Evolution: from education to occupation

In this issue, the Journal will focus on the student-to-professional transitional experience. What are all of the various ways these new-found skills can be applied to forming a successful career beyond graduation? How does a recent graduate navigate through making a living and being an artist? How does one continue making prints and find alternative access to studio space, equipment and time? Is the adjunct position a viable way to enter academia for those who want to teach? What are alternative careers and freelance jobs that support the creative entrepreneur?

Length: 1500 – 2000 words for interviews and feature articles, 750 words for reviews of exhibitions and publications.

Image size: 300 dpi, 9 x 12 inches. Include a brief biography (100 words) and color head shot.

Call for Articles, Interviews and Reviews

The MAPC Journal features articles on the contemporary and historical context of printmaking, works on/of paper, drawing and book arts; essays examining the critical theory related to these media; and reviews of exhibitions and publications.

Now taking submissions for the upcoming issue: Vol. 23, no. 1 + 2 (Spring/Summer 2015)

Deadline: December 15, 2014

Theme:  The Global Print: practice, platform, and international springboard
In what way does the practice of printmaking cross borders, boundaries, and continents? What visual exchanges take place between printmakers from various countries, histories, and cultures? Is there a similarity or difference in aesthetic, content, or technical approach? How does an exhibition or residency experience abroad affect, change, or inform your printmaking practice? The Journal is seeking tales, stories, and insightful thoughts of your international printmaking experiences.

Details:
Length: 1500 – 2000 words for interviews and feature articles, 750 words for reviews of exhibitions and publications.
Image size: 300 dpi, 9 x 12 inches.
Sending Images: Send high-resolution images via Dropbox (preferred) or other online sharing services. Do not send them via email. You can also zip your images and text files together for sharing.

Include a brief biography (100 words) and color head shot (300 dpi, 4 x 5 inches).

MAPC Spring Journal is here!

Greetings MAPC members,

The Spring 2014 edition of the MAPC Journal is now completed and ready for your reading pleasure – hooray!
On behalf of the co-editors and the design team, we are pleased to publish a well-rounded Spring issue, as the articles and artwork represent a creative investigation and inquiry into the notion of interdisciplinary inquiry as it relates to print media. Our own Anita Jung pays homage to Mary Manusos in the companion mailer, as Manusos will be honored as a recipient of the MAPC Outstanding Printmaker Award at the 2014 Conference in Detroit this September. If your membership is current, keep a lookout for the companion mailer to arrive in your mailbox within a few weeks.You can view both the full Journal and companion mailer online via the Mid America Print Council website, click: HERE

We are also currently seeking submissions for our Fall Journal. The theme is Print Catalyst: Traditions and new forms for Print Language. Please forward this on to those printmakers who you think would have intriguing thoughts and insight into this topic. Deadline for submissions is July 31, 2014.

Theme: Crossover: Interdisciplinary inquiry within the printed form.
How does contemporary practice in printmaking form relationships between drawing, photography, sculpture and other media within the print, both theoretically and technically? What are some examples of visual and conceptual relationships that engage other media within the print, pushing the medium further?
Submit your engaging stories, articles, interviews, and exhibition reviews that expand on this topic.

The current issue of The Mid America Print Council Journal is available on the MAPC website (http://www.midamericaprintcouncil.org/) and The Mailer will soon reach your mailboxes.

Contributors include Paul Catanese, Alex Chitty, Nick Conbere, Bob Erikson, Stephen Funk, David Jones, Amanda Knowles, Michael Krueger, Phyllis McGibbon and Jeremy Tinder. The issue also features work by Bryan Nash Gill, Marilee Salvator and Brian Sikes, among others.
In addition to the PDFs and print-your-own options that are available on the MAPC website, you can buy printed, bound copies of The Journal from Magcloud (http://www.magcloud.com/user/mapc).

We are currently accepting submissions for the Fall/Winter of The MAPC Journal: Vol. 21, no. 3 + 4 (Fall/Winter 2013)

The content of this issue is yet to be finalized, and we welcome suggestions and ideas for fresh topics that revolve around the field of printmaking and print related work. We are seeking new, interesting ideas that relate to contemporary and historical printmaking and the general fields of book arts and works on paper.
