Call for Entries: “And” SGCI Postcard Exhibitions

Hello Printmakers!

I’m the SGC International Student Member at Large, and I am writing to you to invite you to participate in And, a student led art show. Along with last year’s SGC International student representative, Cynthia Tidler, and others, we are organizing an exhibition to take place in three venues this fall (the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of Iowa). The exhibition is an open-call for postcards incorporating printmaking and/or digital techniques. We’d love your involvement, and especially encourage student participants. The show’s theme, And, is a reflection on how printmaking and art can foster community across locations.We ask that participants send a postcard-sized print (4”x 6”) to each institution by October 15. If you wanted to involve your classes, you would also be welcome to send all the prints en masse to Knoxville for us to distribute. Individuals submitting information digitally can email the image to and.artshow@gmail.cominstead of mailing work. You’ll find attached a prospectus with the particular details.

We’re really excited to offer students a chance to be in three gallery exhibitions, and the works will also become part of the Print Archive at the University of Iowa. Please don’t hesitate to contact me (jade.hoyer@gmail.com) with any questions. We look forward to seeing your work!

Call for Entries: Year of the Monkey print exchange

The Lion’s Nest will host its second international print exchange on the theme “Year of the Monkey,” in honor of the 2016 Chinese zodiac animal, celebrated on the Chinese New Year, February 8th, 2016. We invite artists to create an 8″x10″ print for the exhibition based on the theme “Year of the Monkey” which may allude to the actual Chinese Zodiac, monkey imagery or antics, or other imaginative interpretations.
Guidelines:
– Edition size 10, paper size 8″x 10″, (either orientation, prints may be border or bleed up to 8″x10″) traditional printmaking methods, no digital or giclee please. Participants will receive 10 random prints in exchange.
– Prints must be separated by glassine, recycled paper or newsprint during shipment.
– Your name, email/website, and return shipping address must be included with your edition on a separate sheet of paper,CLEARLY PRINTED for return print portfolio. (If we can’t read your writing we will not be responsible for mis-labeled shipping,computers are great for helping out with this.) .
– An application fee of $25 is required to submit works. Submit payment online (www.thelionsnest.com) or send a check with your edition.
All works will be shown during PRINT AUSTIN – the month of printmaking in Austin, Texas, which runs mid-January – mid-February 2016.
All works will be Judged by Stan Scott, artist, art professor, and gallerist. He will be awarding a first place prize of $200, second place of $75 and third place of $30. All three winners will be offered representation of printed artworks at The Lion’s Nest for the calendar year of 2016. Winners will be notified in January and will be acknowledged at the opening.

Call for Entries: Justice (League) Print Portfolio Exchange

Justice (League) print portfolio exchange

St. Ambrose University is seeking participants in a print portfolio exchange exploring the topic of Justice. The prints in the portfolio will portray the fight for social justice in the visual language of comics, graphic novels, and zines. We encourage artists to explore the broad spectrum of the fight for justice from the common and everyday reality to the global and even fantastical. The portfolio will be exhibited in the Morrissey Gallery in late February of 2016. The portfolio is open to all printmaking media and there is no participation fee. The Morrissey Gallery is a set of glass-covered showcases outside the entrance to the Allaert Auditorium in the Galvin Fine Arts Building – where performances catering to all ages and diverse audiences are held. Following the exhibition this portfolio will be reserved for exhibition on campus and in the community and a second portfolio will be donated to the university’s Special Collections. The remainder of the editions will be distributed to participating artists.

Call for Entries: Sixty Square Inches

SIXTY SQUARE INCHES 18th North American Small Print Exhibition.

Open to artists over the age of 18 residing in the United States, Canada and Mexico.  Entries must be original fine art prints in any media.  Image size may not exceed 60 square inches (height x width).  Dates of exhibition are January 11 through February 20, 2016.

Juror will be Kim Vito of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Selections will be made from a review of digital images on the Submittable website.  A non-refundable entry fee of $25 entitles the artist to submit up to three (3) images of original works completed in the last 3 years (2013-2015).  Deadline for entries is 5:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2015. Call for Entries: MAPC Members’ Exhibition

Elmhurst College Art Exhibitions presents a call for entries for the Mid-America Print Council (MAPC) Members’ Juried Exhibition. The exhibition dates are October 26 through November 22, 2015. A reception for the exhibition will be held November 12 from 5-7 PM.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to all MAPC Members who are 18 years of age or older. You may become a member by completing a membership form that can be found at the following link: http://www.midamericaprintcouncil.org/
membership.html Works accepted into previous MAPC Membership Exhibitions are not eligible.
Original works in all printmaking media are eligible.

DEADLINE
Entries must be received by 11:59 PM on Friday, July 24, 2015.

ENTRY FEE

Nicole Hand, Professor of Art at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.

Nicole Hand is currently a Professor of Art at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where she teaches printmaking, bookbinding and drawing. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in over 300 solo, invitational, and juried exhibitions. Nicole has given lectures and workshops in over thirty venues including Atlanta Printmakers Studio, University of North Carolina, Greenville, The University of Arizona, University of North Texas, Denton, Ohio University. She received her MFA in printmaking from the University of Miami, and a BFA from the University of South Dakota. Nicole lives in Almo, Kentucky with her husband Jim Bryant and daughter Ella and son Colin.

CONDITIONS
• A maximum of THREE entries per artist are permitted.
• Original works in all printmaking media are eligible.
• Applicants are encouraged, but not required to submit two-dimensional work with a maximum size of 48” in any direction. 3-Dimensional work must fit inside glass cases that are 6’Wx60”Hx24”D. They must also weigh less than 100 pounds. Video works are not eligible.
• All work must be ready to hang with hardware and installation instructions included.
• Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work, alter a work, nor withdraw a work after it has been accepted. Elmhurst College Art Exhibitions reserves the right to refuse any entry which does not match the images submitted or meet the criteria. Elmhurst College Art Exhibitions reserves the right to refuse work that is not appropriate for the space.

ACCEPTED WORKS
Works can be hand delivered or shipped. Instructions will be included in the notification e-mail letter. The artist will be responsible for all shipping charges. Artists who ship their works must provide prepaid return labels upon delivery.

NOTIFICATION
Notification of accepted and non-accepted works will be sent via email on August 12, 2015.

AWARDS
Three awards will be given to artists for their outstanding artworks in the exhibition:
Best of Show Award – Nicole Hand
Second Place Award – Nicole Hand
Director’s Choice Award – Suellen Rocca, Artist & Curator and Director of Exhibitions, Elmhurst College

LIABILITY
Every precaution will be taken to handle artwork with the utmost care. The Founders Lounge and Elmhurst College will not be responsible for damage or loss from any cause during transportation. The works will be insured for the duration of the exhibition.

International Print Exchange: “Wish You Were Here” Postcards!

The Lions Nest will host its FIRST International Print Exchange! Participants will submit an edition of 10 prints, 5×7 inches, and receive 8 assorted original prints in return. The remaining 2 prints will become property of The Lions Nest to be used for exhibition purposes and resale during the show, “Wish You Were Here.”
REQUIREMENTS:
-Ten (10) identical prints, each one signed, dated, and numbered 1/10 – 10/10.
-Prints must be separated by glassine, recycled paper or newsprint during shipment.
-Paper size is 5″x7″ (inches) *prints must be on paper, no boards or backers please
-Send a business card to be posted by your work.
-Your name, email, address and (optional) website must be included with your edition on a separate sheet of paper,  CLEARLY PRINTED for return print portfolio. (If we can’t read your writing we will not be responsible for mis-labeled shipping, computers are great for helping out with this.)-All traditional printmaking mediums accepted as long as the pieces are neatly trimmed to fit the size requirements. The theme for this coming year is {hero[(in)e]}

Just to provide context, this year we received prints from 398 people, from 39 states in the United States and from 12 countries. These included 31 from Australia, 7 from France, 3 from Japan, 2 from South Korea, 1 from the UK, 1 from Denmark, 1 from the Netherlands, 1 from Spain, 1 from Germany, 1 from Belgium, and 1 from Austria. We hope you will join us this year.

REQUIREMENTS
I. Theme: {hero[(in)e]}

II. Any EDITIONABLE printmaking technique may be used. (woodcuts, litho, intaglio, photography, silkscreen,
digital prinmaking, etc) Please DO NOT send monoprints/monotypes.
Each of the prints sent must be identical to the others.

III. Size: 4” x 6” (They can be folded to this size)

IV. 13 identical prints should be sent individually to the address posted below. Each card must be stamped and will bear the markings of travel and the postal service. Do not send the cards together in one envelope.

About the Exhibition:

Shock Print is a national printmaking juried exhibition surveying contemporary printmaking in the United States. The exhibition will showcase both traditional and contemporary prints. The Wichita State University Printmaking Department in collaboration with the Ulrich Museum of Art hopes to build on the vibrant printmaking community in Wichita, Kansas, by presenting prints being made by both established and emerging artists.

About the Juror:

Juergen Strunck is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Art at the University of Dallas and is a practicing printmaker. Juergen has exhibited his work in more than 80 solo exhibitions and 500 invitational and juried exhibitions both in the United States and abroad. His work can be found in notable collections and institutions around the world including: Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore, MD, Library of Congress, Washington, DC, Museo Nacional de Belas Artes, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY

Ulrich Museum of Art:

The Ulrich Museum of Art was established in 1974 with a mission to “expand human experience through encounters with the art of our time.” Over the past four decades the Ulrich has built a national reputation as a leader in innovative and engaging contemporary arts programming. Open call for book inspired artwork under the theme Bookends – Anything in between.

Eligibility: This is an international call for artwork related to, comprised of or inspired by…books. The shows title, Bookends, says it all. We are looking for anything that relates to the medium. This can include traditional books, sculpture, 2-D, installation, text-based works etc. Must be 18yrs old to apply.

The Purple Word Center for Book & Paper Arts:
The Center provides a safe and encouraging space for all to create connections between text and image. The center, in affiliation with Midtown Partners, Inc. and Millsaps College, teaches workshops on printmaking, book and paper arts, while providing studio access for member artists to make their own work.
