The Wood Engravers’ Network Triennial Exhibition

September 11, 2014

The Wood Engravers’ Network Triennial Exhibition is the second juried exhibition sponsored by the Wood Engravers’ Network (WEN). Joan Boudreau, Curator of the Graphic Arts Collection at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of American History, selected sixty engravings by fifty-one artists from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland and Belgium.

Wood engraving’s intimate scale, minute detail and fine textured grays are emblematic of this graphic medium. American artisans such as Timothy Cole, Lynd Ward, John DePol and Leonard Baskin exemplified the mastery and artistry of the medium in their times. WEN’s traveling exhibit connects the tradition of the medium with a contemporary context, continuing a celebration of the medium today.

MAPC is looking for officers!

September 11, 2014

Yes, we’re looking for officers –
President
Vice President (with potential to be President in 2 years),
Secretary,
Treasurer,
and maybe an at-large board person…

Truthfully, Treasurer is the most work, and the Treasurer communicates with the Membership Chair often. We recently signed up for PayPal, and that has made it easier.

We’re all volunteers and a congenial bunch – Like I mentioned, the commitments are greatest for the Treasurer, President, Membership Chair and Secretary (my opinion) – the memory of MAPC institution-wise falls on Jean Dibble – she’s amazing.
The Secretary position is constant, with endless updates to the MAPC website, blog and Facebook page –

Our members are also very generous!
We also have a co-editor group on the MAPC Journal – we may have an opportunity to restructure that – so if you have lots of writing and editing and interest – let us know!

send emails of interest to cathchauvin@gmail.com

Our board meeting at the Detroit conference is Thursday Sept 25 during the noon lunch break, with the general membership meeting to vote Friday Sept 26 during the noon lunch break – locations tba.

After the meeting at the conference, there will be a Spring 2015 meeting at SGCI/Knoxville and the Fall 2015 meeting will be at SIU (Indiana – the 2016 conference host site) the Spring 2016 meeting will be at SGCI/ Portland then the conference –
Wow, can time really go that fast?
It is ideal if as many board members get to the meetings as possible – we’ve tried Skype with some mixed results – but careers and exhibitions and teaching schedules and lives come first –

Anyway – please give it a thought –

The last thing I would need is a headshot and brief (100-150 word) bio, for the candidates slate, for members to vote on at the conference… I can send a sample
