Summer Printmaking Intensive at Kent State University

Kent Blossom Art is a series of two-week intensive art workshops conducted each summer at KSU by resident School of Art faculty and an exciting array of visiting artists. Each workshop is specific to one medium, and this year we are offering workshops in painting, sculpture, glass, printmaking and ceramics. Kent Blossom Art (KBA) provides undergraduate and graduate students with two weeks of focused learning, experimentation, and creation under the guidance of experienced artists from around the country.

KBA Printmaking will be taught by resident faculty member Taryn McMahon and will run June 2 through June 15, 2014, from 9am-6pm daily. In addition, we are very excited to be joined by Visiting Artists Randy Bolton, Artist-in-Residence at Cranbrook Academy of Art, and Melissa Brown, Associate Professor at Lehman College. Visiting artists will engage with students through critiques and discussions and additionally present public talks on their work, giving KBA participants and the greater public an opportunity to learn more about contemporary issues and ideas in the visual arts.

Students may continue their explorations of print processes most familiar to them; experienced artists are equally encouraged to discover new modes of creating. This summer, the focus of KBA Printmaking will be Print in an Expanded Field, and students will be encouraged to explore installation and mixed media approaches.

Tuition costs for each workshop are $1,341 for 3 resident undergraduate credits or $1,425 for 3 resident graduate credits. In addition, students must pay a School of Art course fee for art materials of $22.00 per credit hour.

Partial or full scholarships/fee waivers will be awarded based on (merit) portfolio review. All applications will be reviewed for scholarships. We welcome students from outside the Kent State community, and please note that the non-Ohio resident fee of $1086 (for undergraduate students) or $1026 (for graduate students) may be waived.
