Summer Study Trip – Italy

A new exciting study abroad Printmaking/Drawing/Art History program  has been established at Youngstown State University.  YSU is now hosting a summer trip(July) at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia, Italy that is open to all.  The program will count for 6 credit hours/2courses.  One course in Art History and one in either printmaking or drawing (works on paper).  Both are offered as Graduate and/or Undergraduate courses, including an Introductory Printmaking course.  The new component to this program, apart from YSU hosting, is the Art History course…this class will take place mostly on-location at historic spots such as the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua and Gallerie dell’Accademia Venenzia.  This course will be taught by Dr. Stephanie Smith of YSU.  Her research includes over a decade of site study and excavation in Rome and Venice.  Joseph D’Uva will teach both the Printmaking and Drawing segments, that include Intaglio, Relief, and Letterpress.  YSU is looking to recruit a broad range of students to join us on this great journey.  This is a very personalized and exclusive program for the students who enroll.  All of the scheduling and teaching is done by artists and art historians within an internationally recognized Italian art school.
