Riverhead, NY – The Lyceum Gallery, located on the Eastern Campus of Suffolk County Community College in Riverhead, is pleased to present Dan Welden, Recent Works, an exhibition of paintings on canvas and mixed media works on paper, beginning on March 9, 2009 and continuing through April 2, 2009.

Mr. Welden is a painter, master printmaker, teacher and author, who co-wrote Printmaking in the Sun (Watson Guptill, 2001), a comprehensive manual of printmaking using light sensitive plates known as solarplates, a safer and greener alternative for artists.

Mr. Welden has had over 60 solo exhibits and his work has been showcased throughout the United States, Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand, and Peru. As a master printmaker Mr. Welden has collaborated with artists including Willem de Kooning, Eric Fischl, and David Salle.

On view at the Lyceum Gallery will be Mr. Welden’s most recent artworks inspired by his travels through Peru including compositions based on the Peruvian landscape, transformed by the artist’s energetic line and colorful textures.

A reception for the artist, open to the general public, will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Mr. Welden will speak at 5:00 p.m. For directions and gallery hours, please call (631) 548-2559.
